Spectrum Remote Codes and Programming Guide

Spectrum remote codes are 3, 4, or 5-digit numbers that allow your remote to sync and control various devices like TVs, cable boxes, and sound systems. Each device has its specific code, and to set up your remote, you’ll need to enter the compatible one. In this guide, I will show you how to quickly locate the right codes and program them for your specific device.

Here, I have compiled all the remote codes into a convenient code lookup tool. Simply select the code type, device type, and brand, and the tool will provide the correct code. Then, refer to our programming guide to complete the setup. So, let’s start.

Note: The codes are compiled from multiple sources, so not all codes may be compatible with your specific remote model.

How to Program Spectrum Remotes

To program Charter Spectrum remotes, you have three options: direct code entry, auto code search, and brand code search. While all models don’t support brand code search, the other two methods are compatible with all models. Below, I have broken down each method by remote models so that you can get your remote set without any confusion.

Programming Remotes with 5-digit Codes

The below instructions apply to URC1160 (SR-002-R or Guide remote)

Direct Code Entry

  1. With the TV on, press and hold the MENU and OK buttons until the INPUT key blinks twice.
  2. Enter the first 5-digit code for your brand. The INPUT key will blink twice.
  3. Test the volume and power functions. If the device responds correctly, the setup is complete. If not, try the next code for your brand.

Auto Code Search

  1. With the TV on, press and hold the MENU and OK buttons until the INPUT key blinks twice.
  2. Press the TV Power button once. The INPUT key will light up and stay lit.
  3. Press and hold the UP arrow (^) until the TV turns off. Release the key once the TV turns off.
  4. Test the volume and power functions. If the device responds correctly, the setup is complete. If not, repeat the process.

Brand Code Search

  1. With the TV on, press and hold the MENU and OK buttons until the INPUT key blinks twice.
  2. Press the TV Power button once. The INPUT key will light up and stay lit.
  3. Press and hold the digit key for your brand (Example: 3 for Panasonic) until the TV turns off. Release the key once the TV turns off.
  4. Test the volume and power functions. If the device responds correctly, the setup is complete. If not, repeat the process.

1 Dynex, Insignia
2 LG, Zenith
3 Panasonic
4 Philips, Magnavox
5 RCA, TCL
6 Samsung
7 Sharp
8 Sony

The below instructions apply to URC1160 (or 1060BC2/1060BC3), M2067BX3, etc.

Direct Code Entry

  1. Press a device key (e.g., TV, DVD, etc.), then press and hold SETUP until the selected key blinks twice.
  2. Enter the first 5-digit code for your brand. If accepted, the selected key will blink twice.
  3. Press POWER (or Play). The device should turn off (or start playing). If it doesn’t, repeat the steps with the next code until it works.

Auto Code Search

  1. Turn on your device and, if applicable, insert video media (DVD, Blu-ray, etc.).
  2. Press a device key (e.g., TV, DVD, etc.), then press and hold SETUP until the selected key blinks twice.
  3. Enter 991, then 1 for TV codes, 2 for DVD/VCR, 3 for Audio, or 0 for Cable Box.
  4. Press CH+ repeatedly until the device turns off. If it turns off, press CH- to go back one code.
  5. Press SETUP to save the code once the device turns off.
  6. Test the code by pressing POWER (or Play). If the device doesn’t respond, repeat the steps until you find a working code.

Programming Remotes with 4-digit Codes

The below instructions apply to URC2060, Atlas 5 DVR/PVR, M1056, M2057, URC2068/2069

Direct Code Entry

  1. Turn on your device and, if applicable, insert video media (DVD, Blu-ray, etc.).
  2. Press a device key (e.g., TV, DVD, etc.), then press and hold SETUP until the selected key blinks twice.
  3. Enter the first 4-digit code for your brand. If accepted, the selected key will blink twice.
  4. Press POWER (or Play). The device should turn off (or start playing). If it doesn’t, repeat the steps with the next code until it works.

Auto Code Search

  1. While the TV is on, press and hold SETUP until the LED blinks twice.
  2. Press TV POWER.
  3. Press and hold OK/Select.
  4. Release OK/Select when the TV turns off.

Programming Remotes with 3-digit Codes

Direct Code Entry

  1. Turn on the device you want to control.
  2. Press the device button (e.g., TV, DVD) and OK/SEL together for 3 seconds. The device LED will turn on, indicating it’s ready to be programmed. The LED will stay on for 20-30 seconds, so move quickly to the next step.
  3. Enter the 3-digit code for your brand. If there are multiple codes, start from the first one and try each one until the device turns off.
  4. Press the same device button again to save the code. The LED will blink twice to confirm the code is stored.

Auto Code Search

  1. Turn on the device you want to control.
  2. Press the device button (e.g., TV, DVD) and OK/SEL together for 3 seconds. The device LED will turn on, indicating it’s ready to be programmed. The LED will stay on for 20-30 seconds, so move quickly to the next step.
  3. Press CH+ or CH- repeatedly or hold it down. Release when your equipment turns off.
  4. Press the same device button from Step 2 to store the code. The LED will blink twice to confirm.

For both methods above:

  • After step 3, press POWER to turn the device back on and test other functions like volume or mute. If something doesn’t work, repeat step 3 with the next code on the list.
  • For models like the UR2L-R803 (Easy Clicker), use the HOME button instead of a device button in steps 1 and 4.

So that’s how you can program your Charter Spectrum remote controls with (direct code entry) and without (auto code search) codes. I have given the step by step instructions for remotes that use all types of codes. If you have any queries or need help setting up your remote, feel free to ask me. Just comment below, and I will get back to you.
