How to Program Verizon Fios Remotes

Since the Verizon remotes come in different makes and models, their programming is also slightly different. The exact step-by-step instructions for all the models are described below.

Programming Fios TV Voice Remote

New voice remotes automatically pair with the Fios TV One or Fios TV One Mini set-top box when the plastic battery isolation tab is removed. If pairing fails, pair it manually using the steps below:

  1. Point the remote at the Fios TV One (or Mini) set-top box.
  2. Press and hold the Play/Pause and the number “0” buttons simultaneously until the blue LED starts flashing. Then release both the buttons.
  3. When the blue light stops flashing, the remote is paired and ready to use.

Note: Only one voice remote can be paired with a Fios TV One at a time.

After pairing with your set-top box, the Fios TV Voice Remote automatically detects and controls all HDMI-connected TVs and audio devices. If it doesn’t, follow one of the methods below to set up the remote for your TV and audio equipment.

Automatic Setup

  1. Ensure your TV and Fios set-top box are turned on.
  2. Navigate to Menu > Settings > Voice Control > Fios TV Voice Remote > Program Fios TV Voice Remote > Auto Setup. Press OK to select.
  3. Once the setup completes, a “Success” message will appear in the top right corner of the TV screen. If it doesn’t, proceed with the manual setup procedure below.

Manual Setup

  1. Ensure your TV and Fios set-top box are on.
  2. Go to Menu > Settings > Voice Control > Fios TV Voice Remote > Program Fios TV Voice Remote > Manual Setup. Press OK to select.
  3. Select your TV or audio device brand and model, then follow the on-screen prompts.
  4. When setup is complete, a “Success” message will appear in the top right of the TV screen.

Programming P265 and P283 Remotes

Brand Code Entry

  1. Turn on your TV and Fios set-top box, and ensure live TV is visible.
  2. Press and hold the OK and number 0 buttons together for a few seconds, then release. The LED will blink twice and stay on.
  3. Enter the 3-digit code for your TV brand. The LED will blink twice and stay on.
  4. Press CH+ repeatedly until the TV turns off. Wait 1 second between presses. Press CH- to go back if needed.
  5. [Optional Step] Turn the TV on with TV Power and test the volume, mute, and input buttons. If a key doesn’t work, press and hold it until it responds, then release.
  6. Press OK to save. The LED will blink 3 times and turn off.

Notes:

  • If the CH+ button is pressed too many times and the lights flash rapidly, all codes for that brand have been tried. If your TV didn’t respond, use the Auto Code Search method to scan all codes.
  • The remote exits programming mode automatically after 60 seconds of inactivity.
  • To restart programming, press the Exit button. The LED will turn off when the remote exits programming mode.

Auto Code Search

  1. Turn on your TV and Fios set-top box, and ensure live TV is visible.
  2. Press and hold the OK and FiOS TV buttons for a few seconds, then release. The LED will blink twice and stay on.
  3. Press and hold the ▶ (Play) button until the TV turns off. This may take up to 15 minutes as the remote cycles through codes. Release the button when the TV turns off.
  4. (Optional) Turn the TV on using the TV Power button and test the volume, mute, and input buttons. If a button doesn’t work, press and hold it until it responds, then release.
  5. Press OK to save. The LED will blink 3 times and turn off.

Notes:

  • The code search may take up to 15 minutes as the remote cycles through 500+ codes, starting with the most common. Hold the Play button to find the correct code.
  • Once all codes are tried, the LED and backlit buttons will flash 4 times and turn off, exiting programming mode.
  • Some TVs may respond slowly. If your TV doesn’t turn on after pressing TV Power in step 4, you likely skipped the correct code. Use CH- or CH+ to navigate one code at a time.
  • To restart programming, press Exit and start over. The LED will turn off when the remote exits programming mode.

Programming Philips RC144 Remote

The Philips RC144 remote is pre-programmed for your Fios TV set-top box but requires setup to use VOL+, VOL-, and Mute buttons with your TV. • If some buttons don’t work as expected, try the next code for your brand.
  • The DVD key can be assigned to a DVD or VCR, while AUX is for audio receivers, amplifiers, or VCRs.

Auto Code Search

If the listed codes don’t work or your brand isn’t listed, follow these steps:

  6. Press OK to save the code.

Notes:

  • With over 300 TV and DVD codes, you might need to press Fast Forward (▶▶) many times. The remote will blink twice and exit if all codes are tried.
  • Press Exit to cancel programming at any time.
